What Is the Specifics of Usability Testing?
Usability is considered to be one of the most important aspects of modern software products of different types. Because of a wide range of various offers, the users have become too particular. Now they are very exacting and demanding.
If a user does not like the app design or it is difficult to him to interact with the system, then a person will choose another application more suitable for him (with the similar functionality and better design).
Earlier users did not have such a benefit. They had to fit themselves into the specifics of software products. They did not have another option. But now the situation is quite different. The majority of clients pay a huge attention to the product usability.
The purpose of usability testing is to make the software product easy-to-use, self-explanatory and user-friendly. This software testing type has a set of specific features and its own executing procedure. It differs a lot from functional testing, performance checking, and user interface testing.
What Are the Characteristics of Usability Testing?
- It is rather difficult to define and measure the product usability.
- Usability bugs can be subjective (as compared to other software bugs). As a result, two testers may have quite different opinions about this or that aspect of the product usability.
- Manual testing is more suitable for checking usability. But sometimes the automation principles can be applied too.
- Very often the end users participate in usability testing.
A successful usability testing ensures the popularity of program or application and provides the opportunity for their further development.
