Mobile App by Unicorn Systems Helps Organise Cycling Events in the United Kingdom

Unicorn Systems published a mobile app for Velo29. The application facilitates organisation of races held all over the United Kingdom, attended by hundreds of bicyclists from various countries of the world. It further extends the number of mobile solutions provided by Unicorn Systems. The Velo29 application allows riders, both competitive and recreational to enter into a particular cycle event and view its description and route highlighted in the map before enrolment. Upon their arrival at the event, entrants may use this app to confirm their presence, so that the organisers may determine the actual number of riders. The app sends notifications asking the riders to come to the starting line of the race and when the event starts, the app uses GPS to measure their performance at selected “timed segments”, provides immediate information on ride progress, and lets the organisers announce and quickly evaluate any special disciplines, such as “King of the Mountains”. Entrants have instant knowledge of their ride performance and performance of other riders. The application provides a huge number of opportunities to both to riders and event organisers to bring new and exciting elements to their events and demonstrate new opportunities for use of innovative mobile apps in sports.
