On the 14th November Softengi took part in the Round Table “Ukrainian IT industry in the world – problems and prospects.

The view of international analysts,” organised by the “IT Ukraine” Association took place in Kyiv. The purpose of the Round Table was to discuss the fruitful interaction of IT companies and government, since now the IT industry is one of the most profitable and promising in its development in Ukraine, and the support of the state is one of the keys to success.

The list of participants included representatives of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information, representatives of the central authorities, the academic community, representatives of foreign trade missions, as well as heads of major IT companies in Ukraine.

The experts estimate earnings of companies in the IT industry in more than $ 1.5 billion with an average annual growth of about 30%. One of the main topics of discussion was the current state of the industry and its prospects in the future, in connection with which there is now actively discussed the transition of the IT industry from outsourcing to the own product management, which will compete with such global companies as Google, Apple and others.

Currently the field of outsourcing services composes more than 50% of the total IT market in Ukraine. However, outsourcing is considered as the initial stage of the IT market development, and experts insist on moving companies in the production of its own products, which is more complex in terms of competition with global and already successful companies in the industry.

During the round table there were also discussed issues such as the interaction between business and government in the development of the software industry, the statistics of Ukrainian software industry based on the research of consulting companies, as well as macro-economic conditions of the software industry, and other important IT business issues.

The roundtable participants had the opportunity to consider the development of the IT industry in Ukraine in all aspects – the level of education of IT professionals and their prospects, employment of qualified professionals in the country and their migration, the interaction between the IT companies and the government, and discuss the various possibilities of IT companies development, both in the field of outsourcing, and in the own product management.
