EPAM Ukraine Is Giving 1300 Books to Ukrainians Worldwide

During the last months, millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave their country due to war, leaving behind their homes and all the things dear to their hearts. In this difficult time a book may help one keep contact with their native culture. This support is especially important to those who fled abroad, escaping from the war.

“The Old Lion Publishing House” and “EPAM Ukraine” are sending nearly 1300 books to libraries, community centers and refugees centers located in 10 countries worldwide. The books will be received by forced migrants who fled to Poland, Germany, Estonia, England, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic, Canada and Romania.

The manager of “The Old Lion Publishing House” Mariana Kira notes: “During the last three months we have received more than 100 requests from Ukrainians in different corners of the world regretting that they had no opportunity to take books with them when they were hastily packing suitcases to escape from the war. The majority of requests refer to their children’s book, as kids miss reading the most. With the joined efforts of our readers and warmhearted people we were able to meet half of the requests. We continue to receive additional requests and that is why  we continue receiving requests and their number is higher than our speed of processing. That’s why our cooperation with EPAM Ukraine is of utmost value, impact and importance. It means that in one or two weeks more Ukrainians, who have temporarily left Ukraine, will be able to feel the support by reading books in their native language. This is precisely the main goal of the initiative — to bring a piece of warmth through a book.”

“EPAM Ukraine has been helping the Country from the very first days, reacting to the humanitarian challenges, supporting education and volunteer movement. Today, we are honored to support Ukrainians who are abroad due to the war threatening their lives. It’s important to give them an opportunity to stay in touch with home, with Ukraine. Books - are one of the ways to feel connected with our native culture. We are glad that the publishing industry in Ukraine has recovered quickly and together with our reliable partner, The Old Lion Publishing House we are able to support Ukrainians forced to go abroad with bright and quality literature.” — comments Natalia Koliadko, director of talent development at EPAM Ukraine.

You can also participate in collecting books for Ukrainian refugees and present them with a piece of home by donating 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 Euros. All the books purchased with the donations will be sent to the places where they are most needed.
