AltexSoft Lab: Opening up the new possibilities for young IT specialists

Ukrainian IT industry, being one of the strongest in the Eastern Europe, is currently in the focus of attention of the world tech community.

This is mostly due to the fact that Ukraine has some outstanding scientific talent coming out of the best national specialized schools, such as Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics and Lviv Polytechnic National University. Yet smaller local universities, which are often overlooked by the state and investors, have a huge potential too.

This is why AltexSoft launched its local educational center in Kremenchuk. The project was executed in cooperation with the Department of Information and Control Systems at Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskiy National University. AltexSoft Lab is a part of the corporate social responsibility program by the company’s CEO and founder, Oleksandr Medovoi.

Recognizing AltexSoft’s efforts in educating young specialists, the Global Sourcing Council nominated the company for Community Engagement Award 2015.

The program honors the companies with a pro-active social attitude and encourages the general idea of giving back to the local community. The initiative was welcomed by the students, causing a quite tough competition.

The number of applicants increased from 51 to 225 within the first 3 years, which indicates the ever growing interest to the program.

However, all participants undergo a careful selection process based on their skills and overall knowledge as well as motivation. As a result, only a limited number of applicants get the opportunity to become AltexSoft lab students.

Working in small groups of 10, they study in a real project environment under the tutelage of 6 experienced professionals. This helps them gain special knowledge and develop skills of efficient teamwork.

The 9-month educational course is open to beginners as well as proficient developers, offering two separate programs. Each of them includes 100 hours of theory and practice and is completely free of charge, the latter being a great benefit for a number of talented students with limited financial resources.

In addition to the free educational program, AltexSoft organizes a number of events in cooperation with the Department of Information and Control Systems at Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskiy National University.

One of those, IT Perspective, is a career guidance scientific conference held annually in Kremenchuk. In 2015, the event gathered about 200 participants who enjoyed 8 reports presented by reputable speakers.

The topics brought up at the conference included the current condition of IT market, its hot trends, the latest technologies, different approaches in programming and information technology in education.

Another annual event held by AltexSoft is IT Trends International Forum. It includes several smaller conferences and events aiming to engage more young IT specialists and spread the knowledge about the industry.

The event is business-oriented and has a practical approach to such topics as big data analytics and artificial intelligence.

AltexSoft Lab turned out to be a game-changer for a number of gifted young specialists as well as significant contribution to the Ukrainian IT industry development.

Unleashing the potential of the new generation and encouraging its professional growth has always been one of the AltexSoft’s priorities. We believe, it’s up to young professionals to build the future of Ukrainian IT.
