Unicorn Systems Proudly Partners with ENTSO-E to Deliver Transparency in Europe´s Electricity Market
Transparency of information is essential to implement a competitive single European electricity market.
The ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, which gathers and publishes pan-European information from the electric energy industry, contributes significantly to greater transparency.
The platform has been custom developed by Unicorn Systems, a Czech software company, and launched on January 5, 2015.
Transmission system operators (TSOs) have been voluntarily publishing market information through www.entsoe.net since 2007 for the benefit of electricity market participants throughout Europe.
In 2012 ENTSO-E held a tender for the delivery of a new transparency platform to meet both additional technological and EU legislative requirements. Unicorn Systems won this tender.
The project was divided into two stages. The first stage was completed in January 2014 with the launch of the first version of the new ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, introducing fundamental technological upgrades and a newly designed user interface.
The solution was fully built on state-of-the-art open-source technologies, providing excellent flexibility, speed, and capacity. The new platform can process data volumes several times greater than the previous one.
In compliance with Regulation (EU) No. 543/2013 on submission and publication of data in electricity markets, the second stage of the project culminated with the start of the platform’s live operation on January 5, 2015.
New data formats and features were delivered, allowing ENTSO-E member TSOs and other data providers to meet their legal requirements with regard to the publication of information on their activities.
The new platform is available at www.transparency.entsoe.eu.
“I am proud Unicorn Systems has launched the new, reliable ENTSO-E Transparency Platform on schedule and the platform is ready to run pursuant to the applicable European legislation,”
said Jan Konrád, International Services Director, Unicorn Systems, upon completion of the first project phase.
“Despite the significant challenge of creating a platform which both data providers and users from many different countries can easily use, ENTSO-E and Unicorn have fulfilled the legal mandate of providing a new Transparency Platform on 5 January 2015. This platform demonstrates the TSOs’ ongoing commitment to greater transparency in Europe’s electricity market,”
declared Konstantin Staschus, Secretary General, ENTSO-E.
