What is Lean Poker About?
It’s not just a Hackathon event. It’s also a workshop to learn and to practice:
- continuous deployment;
- lean startup methodologies and how to deliver value fast;
- play poker;
- and, last but not the least, have fun and meet smart people.
Why Lean Poker is so interesting for us?

Hackathon
Teams of 2-5 people develop a poker robot in any of the supported languages. Every time a team pushes to its own git repository, the new code is deployed to production.

Competition
Every few seconds the robots are playing rounds of Texas Hold’em Poker. To finish first at the end of the day the team needs to make sure that their robot collects more points than other bots.

Startup simulation
The main goal is not to win, but to learn. In this simulated environment teams need to deliver value in short time frames, which is a great opportunity to experiment with agile and lean practices without risks.
Goal is to build an algorithm, develop strategy and thus beat other teams. During 8 hours together with your team you will be designing and improving your decisions during training rounds.
Professional poker bots are developed for years, so the purpose is definitely not to come up with something really smart, but to be the smartest among the current competitors!
You will need:

English language skills
Facilitator will conduct event in English. You should be comfortable with it to understand tasks, rules.

Equipment
Laptop, brain, ability to code, willingness to learn and to win.

Technology skills
Any programming language you use. Lean Poker supports any programming language that can respond to HTTP POST requests.
