Coverage of Embedded Lviv TechTalk #2 at GlobalLogic
More than 70 participants visited Embedded Lviv TechTalk #2, which took place at GlobalLogic’s Lviv office on May 22. It is one of the series of embedded expert events, organized by GlobalLogic.
Nazar Mota (GlobalLogic, Lviv) was the first to present his inquiry. In a presentation on security vulnerabilities he described a problem in Internet security known as Heartbleed. It is a bug in OpenSSL cryptographic software allowing unauthorized access to memory on servers.
Nazar shared useful recommendations on correct coding, as well as on decreasing the probability of buffer overflow.
Ihor Semochko and Yuriy Kozak (GlobalLogic, Lviv) delivered a report on system test automation for embedded devices. They told about the key aspects of automated testing, development strategy and process along with the required resources.
Moreover, Ihor and Yuriy described the appliance of automated testing in embedded systems, in particular, the ones which are of a “True Real Time” type, run on non-PC devices and have no debug ports. The developers used real examples to demonstrate system architecture, whereupon they provided answers to numerous questions of the audience.
Volodymyr Shymansky (GlobalLogic, Kyiv) along with his colleagues Igor Kaplinskyi and Taras Protsiv studied a process of creating software for hardware which does not exist yet. To perform it they suggested using QEMU emulator, making it support new platforms and devices, if necessary.
Volodymyr Shymansky told about emulating Raspberry Pi computer in QEMU adding support of accelerometer to the virtual device. Next, Volodymyr demonstrated how a program to visualize accelerometer’s operation, created under the emulator, was launched at a real Raspberry Pi device.
To sum up, Embedded Lviv TechTalk sparked interest among a large developers community and received a lot of positive comments. GlobalLogic puts a lot of efforts in order to evolve the IT community, and intends to organize embedded-themed events, as well as meetings to discuss other interesting technologies.
