Useful Presentations from Lviv Mobile TechTalk
On November 13, more than 120 participants interested in mobile development gathered at Lviv Mobile TechTalk conference, which has already become traditional. Engineers from GlobalLogic Lviv office have shared their experience and ideas.
The conference started with a presentation by Nazar Zherebetskyi, Junior Software Engineer, who explained and demonstrated a build of and open source Android project.
Rostyslav Lesovyi and Oleksandr Kravchenko made a presentation entitled “Android UI Performance. Overdraw problem”. The experts spoke about the essence of overdraw and the problems it causes, explained how to find and overcome overdraw and showed a respective demo.
Yuriy Berdnikov, Team Lead spoke about iOS development, particularly about adaptive layout and its use with iOS8, its advantages and limitations.
Iuliia Khikmatova, Senior Automation Tester, shared her experience in cross platform testing for Web and Android, demonstrated frameworks she uses and showed the examples of her own code.
Denys Bogdanov, designer, passed his opinion on a new user interface design concept of Android L, called Material Design. He mentioned difficulties which appear in the course of collaboration with developers and suggested ways to solve design problems while working with an Android platform. Additionally, Denys described advantages of material design over flat design.
In the end of the conference Oleg Ivanchenko and Orest Hera spoke about the development of Instabeat, an innovative swimming tracker. Orest Hera, Senior Software Engineer and a Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, demonstrated the device and explained, why there is a gyro sensor, an accelerometer and a magnetometer in this tracker.
He also told which data should be collected and processed in order to get information about the user’s physical activity.
