The First IT University Has Been Opened in Ukraine
Private university “Computer Academy STEP” has been opened in Lviv. This is the first higher education institution in Ukraine specializing exclusively in IT education.
Applicants will be able to choose one of the four areas of study: programming, network technologies and cybersecurity, graphic design and development of web-projects as well as IoT (Internet of Things). This area is new to our country, but very trendy in the world.
All academic curriculums was developed with international requirements and took cue with modern labor market. Students will be taught by practitioners, who work in the leading Ukrainian IT-companies.
Presentation of the new university was provided with public talk of contemporary problems and needs of the local IT ecosystem with the participation of experts. The participants of the discussion was Dmitry Korchevskiy (founder and CEO of the Computer Academy STEP), Viktor Voloshin (Rector “Computer Academy STEP”), Andrew Moskalenko (deputy city mayor of Development in Lviv), Janika Merylo (political and social activist, an expert of business-angel investments and information community), Stepan Veselovsky (CEO of Lviv IT cluster), and representatives of the largest Ukrainian IT companies (SoftServe, ELEKS) and the Department of education of the Lviv regional public administration.
“The main value of the company are people. Unfortunately, we don’t have so many talented employees. The opening of new universities is always good. Especially, it is good, when university is private. It means that it will have sufficient freedom. The curriculum of studying is very progressive. It touches upon the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, this is the level of the advanced fields in IT.
This will be a serious contribution in the capacity building of talented people and IT in Lviv, “

Lviv branch of the Computer Academy STEP became the first private educational IT institution, to which the Ministry of Education and Science has provided the license of higher educational institutions in the direction of “Information Technology”. The accreditation allows to prepare students for the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. “Computer Academy STEP” will provide the relevant state-recognized diplomas. Also, students can pass the appropriate courses and receive international certifications from industry leaders as Microsoft, Cisco, and Autodesk.
“Creation of the higher education institution in IT direction is a logical continuation of our work. We have been developing IT training centers in all over Ukraine and abroad for more than 15 years. I have no doubt to choose Lviv for the opening of the IT universities.
