Creation of Eastern Pan-European Platform for IT Will Help Develop Internal IT Market in Ukraine – Nefyodov

The creation of an Eastern Pan-European platform for IT will help develop an internal IT market in Ukraine jointly with the neighboring countries, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maksym Nefyodov has told Interfax-Ukraine.

“The creation of the Eastern Pan-European platform aims at creating a more global domestic market for these countries. Neither the market of Ukraine nor that of Slovenia, nor Hungary itself is sufficient to keep a large unique IT product company,”

he said during the roundtable IT Future Talks in Kyiv.

He said the idea of setting up such a platform was discussed in Washington last week during the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.

According to the head of EPAM and the president of the Information Technologies of Ukraine association, Yuriy Antoniuk, the development by the state of the internal market for the IT industry is one of the drivers of the development of the industry. He also said the industry has a potential to return to growth rates of 25-30% a year instead of the current 17%.
