Ukraine Launches Free School for White Hackers

Earlier this month Cyber School, a cyber-security school which claims to offer “the most difficult program in Eastern Europe,” announced its launch in Kyiv (Kiev). It is hosted by UNIT.City, an innovation park funded by the Ukrainian serial entrepreneur and philanthropist Vasyl Khmelnytsky.

Kicking off in late November, the English-only program starts with a four-week crash course, at the end of which 60 students will be selected for a four-month core course, from January to April 2019. The teachings are free with a program covering various topics, from network and application security, to reverse engineering, to operation security, among others.

The school is the brainchild of Yegor Aushev, co-founder at Hacken, an ecosystem of cybersecurity products, Oleksii Baranovskyi, senior teacher at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and Dmitry Eremin, Managing Partner at UNIT.City.

According to Eremin, there are several hundreds of cyber security professionals in Ukraine to date. “White hackers” earn an average of $1,300 monthly in Ukraine.
